Puffin on small jar.
I start making these little jars from example pieces I throw from stoneware clay in private lessons to demonstrate techniques. Rather than recycle the clay I then trim the dish and add a puffin. I dry the piece and fire them to 1000 degrees Centigrade. This changes the clay into ceramic. I then carefully hand paint each dish and add broken glass to the bottom, The piece is then fired again to 1225 degrees at which point the glaze melts and bonds with the piece and the glass at the bottom melts to form a pool.
The pieces are totally waterproof and will last forever with care.
